Purpose of the position

As a Procurement Manager specializing in IT, you will play a key role in optimizing and managing procurement activities within the Lufthansa Group and its subsidiaries. You will be responsible for developing strategic procurement alternatives, ensuring cost-effective and value-driven sourcing solutions, and supporting the company’s overall IT procurement strategy. Your efforts will contribute to securing optimal supply, driving cost savings, and aligning procurement initiatives with broader corporate goals.

 

Your tasks

Procurement Strategy & Management:

  • Develop procurement alternatives that focus on value and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate on identifying and developing savings potential across the IT department.
  • Ensure an optimal supply chain for IT goods and services.
  • Create and implement procurement strategies for projects, focusing on selecting efficient and cost-effective suppliers.
  • Manage sustainable cost strategies, such as optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO) and increasing flexibility in fixed costs.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts, leveraging existing power of attorney for high-value deals.
  • Set and coordinate target values and billing rates for procurement, ensuring transparency in decision-making, monitoring, and auditing processes.

Strategic Category Development:

  • Conduct procurement market research to stay informed of industry trends and innovations.
  • Perform business analysis, benchmarking, and market research to support decision-making.
  • Drive procurement strategies for IT categories, focusing on volume bundling and supplier optimization.
  • Implement innovative business models and streamline workflows through automation of manual processes.

Supplier & Contract Management:

  • Oversee supplier management, monitoring the performance and development of key suppliers.
  • Scout trends and negotiate terms to ensure strong supplier relationships and cost control.
  • Manage high-value procurement channels, ensuring robust supply chain designs and commercial approval processes.
  • Analyze service and cost trends, taking action to manage risks and enhance supplier agreements.

Risk & Process Management:

  • Identify and implement strategies to mitigate risks related to supplier performance and delivery.
  • Evaluate and optimize existing IT procurement processes in alignment with corporate standards.
  • Lead initiatives for process improvement and efficiency across IT procurement functions.

Knowledge & Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the central point of contact for all IT category procurement activities across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain transparency around procurement knowledge and processes within the IT domain.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and procurement partners to ensure alignment on strategic goals.

 

Your profile

  • Completed university degree in economics, industrial engineering, business informatics, law or comparable.
  • Several years of professional experience in procurement and/or IT infrastructure management.
  • Excellent understanding of procurement market trends, cost management strategies, and risk mitigation.
  • Analytical and process-oriented mindset with the ability to drive continuous
  • Creativity in developing solutions to problems.
  • Precise ability to present complex issues and a high level of abstraction.
  • Strong communication and networking skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant areas of contract law.
  • Very high sense of responsibility and strong decision making skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage high-value contracts.
  • Builds and maintains strong, respectful working relationships with individuals from various cultures.
  • Willingness to travel for business.
  • Required : English and Dutch or French. German is a plus.
