Sustainability Specialist - Lenexa, KS


Mission and Key Focus:

The Sustainability specialist supports the implementation of Corbion’s sustainability strategy by implementing sustainability related projects and initiatives and by providing support to the different businesses units and functions on sustainability topics.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implementation responsible sourcing initiative for US-based suppliers, including engagement with stakeholders and suppliers, development of policies, tracking of supplier sustainability performance using questionnaires and tools such as Sedex and participation in relevant industry associations in the US.
  • Sustainability assessment of innovation projects. Support project teams on the sustainability assessment in the stage gate process, advise on mitigation actions and support social and life cycle assessment (LCA), in collaboration with LCA specialists.
  • Advise on marketing communication of sustainability benefits for Corbion’s food solutions.
  • Be a sustainability champion for Lenexa/US and engage employees in our sustainability ambitions through workshops and other engagement activities.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Passion for sustainability and genuine interest in the topic
  • University degree in environmental sciences, agricultural / food technology or similar
  • Needs to understand environmental impacts of food production (from farm to fork).
  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to develop key messages for internal and external communication
